Day 1 – Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Santa Teresa, Cusco

Today, you will visit the Inca-Citadel of Machu Picchu! In order to avoid the crowds and be among the first visitors at Machu Picchu, you will depart from your hostel shortly after a very early breakfast. After managing to remain hidden throughout the Spanish Conquest, the citadel was rediscovered by American historian Hiram Bingham in 1911. Your guide will take you on a tour around the vast ruins for approximately two hours, explaining the historical significance of the various structures built during the time of the Inca Empire (mid-15th century), including the Main Square, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Circular Towers, the Sacred Sun Dial and the Burial Grounds. This trip to Machu Picchu is arranged by foot or if would like, you can go by bus for $ 12 (round trip $24) and can be at the time. Around 11:30am, you will return walking to hydroelectric where we will catch the transport at 3:00 pm. to continue the return to Cusco by the same route that we arrived, arriving at 9:30 p.m. approximately.

Day 2 – Cusco, Hydroelectric, Aguas Callientes

At 07:30 a.m, you will be picked up from your Hotel. We go to Ollantaytambo, enjoying beautiful landscapes of the area, where we will make a brief stop of approximately 30 min. From here, we will continue the trip on a winding path to the Abra de Málaga located at an altitude of 4316 above sea level where we can see the most wonderful landscapes of Peruvian geography. Then we descend to the jungle through the different altitudinal floors that combine paradisiacal landscapes of majestic snowfalls to the warm jungle to the altitude of Alfamayo where we will find a road in perfect conditions completely paved. From the place from where the dirt road begins, (without pavement) is where we will continue towards the town of Sta. Maria, located at an altitude of 1575 masl, to continue after a brief stop in the town of Santa Teresa. At 1:00 pm. approx. where a delicious lunch will be waiting for us, then we will head towards Hydroelectric where we will walk to Aguas Calientes at about 2:30 h arriving at 5:00 p.m. where we will be located in our assigned hostel, this itinerary will have free time where you can visit the hot springs thermal baths until about 8:00 p.m. You will enjoy a delicious dinner at any great restaurant around the town. After your dinner the guide will visit you, who will be in charge of the guided tour of the citadel of Machupicchu and will give you a briefing.
