Your adventure begins early in the morning with a 04:00 am pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. You will meet your English-speaking guide and travel by private vehicle through the scenic South Valley of Cusco, enjoying views of traditional Andean villages, wide valleys, and snowcapped peaks.
After approximately 3.5 hours of driving, we arrive at the Pacchanta community (4,300 m / 14,100 ft), located at the base of the majestic Ausangate Mountain. Here, we take a short break to enjoy a delicious local breakfast prepared by the community.
Following breakfast, we begin our hike to the Ausangate 7 Lakes, a stunning high-altitude circuit surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery. The round-trip hike lasts approximately 4.5 to 5 hours, following a well-defined trail through alpine landscapes.
During the hike, we visit a series of spectacular glacial lakes, including Azulcocha, Otorongo, Pucacocha, Alqacocha, and Q’omercocha, each displaying unique shades of blue, turquoise, and green. Along the way, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the snow-covered peaks that dominate the region, such as Ausangate (6,834 m), Mariposa or Butterfly Mountain (5,842 m), Jampa (5,500 m), Pucapunta (5,740 m), Caracol or Snail Mountain (5,625 m), Tinke (5,300 m), as well as the impressive Qayangate mountain range.
After completing the circuit, we trek back to the Pacchanta community, where a traditional lunch awaits.
After lunch, you will have free time to relax in the natural hot springs of Pacchanta (approximately 40 minutes) or explore the community at your own pace while enjoying the surrounding views.
In the afternoon, we begin our return journey to Cusco by private transport. Arrival in the city is expected between 6:00 and 6:30 pm, with drop-off at your hotel, concluding an unforgettable full-day adventure in the Ausangate region.
