At 1:00pm. Our guide will pick you up to start with the Private LIMA CITY TOUR where you will Visit the Government Palace, the Municipality palace, the Cathedral of Lima, and main colonial buildings around the Plaza Mayor, Santo Domingo This convent is known as the Convento del Santísimo Rosario, its construction dates from the mid-16th century. The room of the Convent-Museum has a unique ceiling that has hundreds of pieces of wood with fine carvings. The museum is made up of the Cloisters, the library, the chapel of San Martin de Porres, the crypt. The Cloister is decorated with Sevillian tiles and paintings from the 17th century, which recount the life of Santo Domingo de Guzmán. The Library of the Convent is an admirable venue for reading of great value. Contains 25 thousand volumes. The Second Cloister is an Arab architectural composition. Here is located the Chapel of San Martín de Porres (end of the 18th century) where San Martín understood the sick. In the Chapel are the tomb of the Saint and urns with his relics. In the Crypt you can see the tomb of Santa Rosa de Lima. You can also see the remains of the Dominican friars who died in the Convent over several centuries. In general, this is a cultural-religious visit, if you like pictorial art, this is a tour in Lima that you should do for yourself. On the other hand, the crypt also gives you a slightly creepy but very interesting point of view. You will find a Basilica with 21 altars, the convent with the cloister, the Clementina and Capitulars room, the choir, the monk’s library and the Prefunds Museum that exhibits 11 paintings of Rubens. The sacristy exhibits paints of Zurbaran and Rivera. The Gran Patio is garnished with Seville’s tiles from the XVI century and Moorish arcs. It also includes a visit to the underground tombs (catacombs). Then a short tour of the modern districts of San Isidro and Miraflores visiting places like The Love Park and The Indian Market (souvenirs & handicrafts) We will also visit the Larco museum , the Museo Larco (is a privately owned museum of pre-Columbian art, located in the Pueblo Libre District of Lima, Peru. The museum is housed in an 18th-century vice-royal building. It highlights chronological galleries that provide a thorough overview of 5,000 years of Peruvian pre-Columbian history. It is well known for its gallery of pre-Columbian erotic pottery. At the end of our tour which takes around 4 hours, you will be dropped off at your HOTEL

In Lima, you will be picked up and transfer to the airport for the flight straight to Puerto Maldonado. Upon your arrival our guide will meet you and lead you to WASAI Maldonado Hotel, where you will receive a tropical welcome juice and a brief explanation of the trip. Then we will start a trip of approximately two hours to Wasai Tambopata lodge. The trip is initially carried out by land vehicle for 47km of paved road followed by 17 km of an off-road route that passes through settler’s farms and primary forests. This road ends in a small port in the Tambopata River where our motorboat will be waiting for us to cruise the Tambopata River downstream for approximately 20 minutes, headed towards WASAI Tambopata Lodge (Box lunch on the route). During the journey we will have the opportunity to observe various bird species, hopefully families of capybaras, the world’s largest rodents, alligators and other wildlife. Reception and accommodation at the Lodge. Introductory nocturnal walk to understand rainforest ecosystems and see and listen to the insects, bats, frogs, and perhaps some occasional encounter with other nocturnal mammals. Return to the lodge for dinner. We will enjoy diverse sounds of the jungle which will accompany our first night in the Amazon. Night at Wasai Tambopata Lodge. (BL, D)
Early wake up around 4:30 a.m. and begin with our 60-minutes journey upstream to the Macaw Clay Lick ‘El Chuncho’ in the Tambopata National Reserve. We will have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful natural sceneries and wildlife of the riverbanks. At our arrival, if weather permits, we will observe one of the greatest wildlife spectacles where hundreds of parrots and different species of macaws gather to eat clay. We will have breakfast while we wait for the macaws to arrive. Halfway through the morning we will return to Wasaí Tambopata Lodge. This river route goes through the Tambopata National Reserve offering the best chance to watch wildlife in the region. We can find animals such as capybaras, tapirs, monkeys and with luck: jaguars. At your arrival, you can relax in the hammocks or have the chance of swimming in the Tambopata River. Those who want, can join us to fish where inhabit more than 250 species of fish. Lunch will be served between 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. After lunch, we will make a short ethno botanical walk of 1 km to learn about plants and how they integrate with the ecosystem. You will find out about medicinal plants and other uses that the native communities give them. We can see walking palm trees, sacred lupuna trees, hollow trees inhabited by ants and more. At nightfall, we embark the boat again to make a nocturnal caiman search. Night at Wasaí Tambopata Lodge. (B, L, D)
After breakfast ,we will make a trip by boat and land vehicle to Wasaí Maldonado Hotel, in Puerto Maldonado where we will relax in our rooms and enjoy a tasty lunch. After lunch, we will leave and cruise the Madre de Dios river for 30 minutes until we reach the trail that leads to Sandoval lake, then take a 3 km hike to the banks of the lake. There we will board a canoe to paddle around the lake enjoying the beauty of the landscape and observing the wildlife, such as kingfishers, herons, hoatzins (unique pre-historic looking birds), monkeys, etc. If we are lucky, we could see the family of giant otters which live at the lake. As the sun begins to set we will initiate our walk back and then cruise back to Wasaí Maldonado Hotel. After dinner you will be able to rest or enjoy the pool and its cascade surrounded by verdant vegetation. Rest of the night free to enjoy the night life of this welcoming city. Breakfast at your hotel in Puerto Maldonado, and transfer back to the airport. While Rio de Janeiro’s Christ the Redeemer may be the South America’s most famous statue of Christ, the white Christ sculpture of Cusco is central to the identity of one of the continent’s most culturally and historically important cities. You will be picked up from your hotel at 9am, to start with the tour to the Andean native markets and ruins of Pisac and Ruins. Afternoon, you will explore Ollantaytambo, an archaeological site that the Incas built as a fort and includes a temple, agricultural terraces, and an urban area. There are two distinct sectors: Araqama Ayllu, the religious and worship zone, and Qosqo Ayllu, the residential area. Ollantaytambo was an important administrative center with probable military functions due to the walls and towers. There are also traces of ancient roads and aqueducts. The town of Ollantaytambo is called a Living-Inca-Town, since the inhabitants maintain very old practices and customs. Today is the climax day hiking through the most popular ancient past through highlands to Machu Picchu citadel of the Incas. Around 5:30am the travelers will be collected for their hotels in downtown – Cusco. The travelers will be transferred by private van with enough room for the backpacks, foods and the other personal items. This journey goes through Andean village of Chincheros, Ollantaytambo Urubamba and finally Chilca. The tour guide will recommend stopping at Ollantaytambo to have country breakfast (not included in the trek price). After 3 hours of drive the journey ends at kilometer 82, this point is the trail head of the famous Inca trail to Machu Picchu. Before to start the hike the hiker will make the check in at the control point, this is the place to check everything before to start the hiking.
The trail takes us to the first Inca ruins as Huillca Raccay, this offer spectacular view of Urubamba valley and the Cusi Chacca River. The trekking includes break stop for pictures and relaxing according your felling. Continue hiking on the left bank of Urubamba River the hiker will be awarded with spectacular views of Veronica snow capped mountain, this is considerate one of the highest mountain with 5870 meters above sea level on the Cordillera Urubamba (Urubamba Mountain range). After 3 hours of hike you will enjoy the lunch near of Llaqtapata ruins (Upper Town in Quechua ancient language) and surrounded by pure nature and amazing views and of course guided visit of the ruins.3 hours more of uphill and following the ancient path by the left bank of the river (around 7 kilometers) the hikers will arrived to the little village of Wayllabamba. This place will be to set up the tents and spend the first night at 3000 meter above the sea level.
After country breakfast the hikers will be ready to leave the first campsite and start the hike following the ancient path along the left bank of the Lluyuchayoc River. Today we recommend to hike very slow and take your time because is the hardest day to climb up the pass. After 1 or 2 hours arrival to Tres Piedras (Three Stones), there is small bridge to be crossed named Wayruro (seed of good fortune) and there the hiker will stop for break and use the toilets facilities before to continue going up through cloud forest. Uphill hike for around 3 or 4 hours depending your physical condition and seeing spectacular views of Lluyucha Pampa (3680m). Continuing going up and following the amazing landscape you will get to the first and highest pass of the Inca trail, called in quechua ancient language “Abra Warmy Wañusca” or Ingles means “Dead Woman’s Pass” (4200m).
The final part of the uphill trail will be the hardest because the altitude start to make effect to the hiker don’t got good acclimatization before to this trek. SOUTH ADVENTURE PERU TOURS recommend expending few nights at 3400 meters above sea level (Cusco) before to do this trek and reach this pass.At the Abra Warmy Wañusca normally many people reach this altitude and this is the best award for celebrate. Some hikers bring some special drink to share with the others taking resting, making pictures and if weather permit seeing spectacular scenes of uphill trail where some people still are making the effort to reach top. After plenty time on the top we start a nice downhill path to the second campsite at Paqaymayu valley (3600 meters above sea level). This valley offer nice views of the mountain range.
Today the hiker will have breakfast at 7am and the start another 15km of hiking passing through archaeological site as Runkuracay (Pile of ruins). This circular complex is located on the top of a mountain and between the border of the Andean climate and the cloud forest. To reach these ruins the trail climbs steeply up the opposite side of the valley towards the second pass..The investigation says this was a place to storage food and contains sleeping areas for the Inca army..After the guide tour of Runkuracay we follow the trail leads us to the second larger Inca ruins as known Sayaqmarca (Dominant Town or Inaccessible Town).On the way to the ruins the hikers passing through two small beautiful lagoons next of the trail…After Sayaqmarca the trail winds through jungle with orchids and bromeliads, through a tunnel, and along ridge above Urubamba River to Puyupatamarca (Town in the clouds). With stunning views of Salcantay, Veronica, and Pumasillo. Puyupatamarca, spreads out on either side of the trail with many agricultural terraces, a long series of baths (one and than a run of five going down the slope), and at the top of the site a large bedrock platform.
Some archaeologists interpret the site as primarily a place to worship the mountains, but also see important water source association with the springs feeding the baths. Puyupatamarca offer spectacular place to have lunch seeing the surrounded mountains. From Puyupatamarca descends via steep staircase to Wiñay Wayna (Forever Young) is an Inca complex neighbor to Machu Picchu, on an elevated perch overlooking the Urubamba River. The site consists of upper and lower house complexes connected by a staircase and fountain structures, beside the houses lies and area of agricultural terraces. This place was discovered in 1941 by Paul Fejos. After exploring the ruins we go to the campsite, there is a little lodge and restaurant where you can purchase some drinks available and hot shower for 10 Soles.
Early morning wake up at 4:30 a.m. for breakfast and to begin the trek to be the first at the archaeological site of Machu Picchu for the sunrise. We will descend rapidly from cloud forest into high jungle habitat. Orchids and hummingbirds are commonly seen along this spectacular section of the trail high above the river. At the time of your entrance to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, your guide will direct you to the entrance to either of the two so that you can continue with your walk, which will take between 2 to 3 hours to go up and down. You’ll spot more and more local shops (tiendas) selling the most random of things all in the one tienda. If you’re looking for an alpaca jumper, a freshly made juice, a bag of nectarines, some plantains to fry, buttifaras (ham sandwiches served on French bread) or some cheesy gifts for your parents or friends back home you’re definitely on your way to the right place! Free time for leisure and explore the city on your own.
In the morning or afternoon, transfer back to the airport for the flight back to Lima/ Home.
