Trip to Machu Picchu 4 Days Inca Trail ( Lima – Cusco & Sacred valley – Maras Moray & Salt Mines – Machu Picchu & Huayna Picchu – Cusco & South valley – Lima)

At 9:00 am, we will pick you up at your hotel, after one and a half hours drive we arrive to the put -in at the shores of the Upper Urubamba River, at “CUSIPATA RIVER SECTION”, our private campground. Our professional Rafting Guides will give you a safety talk and provide you with all the proper equipment for Rafting. We will be floating for approximately two and a half hours, traversing class II and III rapids. During the rainy season Dec. to early March, the rapids can be class IV and V plus…Afterwards, we arrive to the take-out at “CUSIPATA RIVER CAMP”, where a hot Sauna and hot showers will be waiting you, also a full course lunch will be provided. As an option you can do a ZIP-LINE over 4 cables across the river. Our return to Cusco should be around 5 in the afternoon and transfer back to your HOTEL.

You should bring: Swimming suit / a complete set of dry clothing / a pair of sandals or tennis shoes for the river that will get wet Sun block / a small towel / a bathing suit to wear under the wet suit / a good positive mental attitude. (Dinner on your own)

After your breakfast, we will pick you up from your Hotel at 8:00 am to start visiting these incredible places in the southern of Cusco.

Tipón is said to be a royal garden commissioned by Wiracocha. It is one of the most elaborate examples of agricultural terracing created by the Incas. These tall terraces which run up the narrow valley are irrigated by an aqueduct from Pachatusan, the mountain above the site. In addition to the terracing there are also some other structures at Tipón, including baths, a temple complex, canals and aqueducts. Tipón is definitely one of the lesser visited sites in the Cusco area but it is equally as impressive as those in the Sacred Valley. The Tipón Archeological Complex is located 24 km southeast of Cusco.

Pikillacta: Pikillacta is the only pre-Inca site in the Cusco area. This adobe complex was built around 700 to 900 years AD by the Huari Culture, in the area; there is a small Inca site just a short walk from Pikillacta, known as Rumicolca, a travel checkpoint for the Incas.

Andahuaylillas: Here you will visit the “Sistine Chapel of Peru”, a church that is home to golden altars, paintings and many colored ceilings. The chapel is simple and unassuming on the outside, but on the inside you’ll find masterpiece after masterpiece. Also some paintings from famous “Escuela Cuzqueña” can be appreciated. Afternoon return to Cusco but on the way back, we will stop at Saylla where we will find some typical restaurants to enjoy pork chicharrones, or roasted ginea pig (optional) Afternoon, return to Cusco and drop off at your Hotel.

After your early breakfast at camping (4:30am) we will descend rapidly from the cloud forest into the high jungle habitat. Orchids and hummingbirds are commonly seen along the spectacular section of the trail high above the river. We will arrive at Inti Punku “Sun Gate” to observe the sunrise over Machu Picchu from an elevated vantage point. We continue down to the royal road and at last the “Lost city of the Incas” where you will be guided during 3 hours into this marvelous citadel of Machu Picchu.

The GUIDED tour basically includes walk through the different sections such as: The Urban sector, the agriculture sector, and the religions zone was used by the Inca Culture. After the guided tour in Machu Picchu, you will have free time to explore by yourself, walk at your own space, a lot of selfies and to meet other tourists into the sanctuary. According with the time and to your physical conditions, you can coordinate with the tour guide to climb to HUAYNA PICCHU or Machu Picchu Mountain from where you can have the best panoramic view for photos of all Machu Picchu and of deep green canyon surrounding the sacred Inca Citadel. Do not forget that this entrance must be booked in advance and pay US$ 65 extra. Afternoon and depending on your train schedule back to Cusco; you will have to take the bus down to Aguas Calientes to catch the train back to Cusco. After the guided tour, our guide will give you all the instructions for your bus down and train back to Cusco. Upon your arrival to Poroy station, you will be meeting again by our staff and then transfer back to your Hotel. (Dinner on your own)

This third day is the most impressive day of walking, you will wake up early in the morning to start with the hike of another 15 Km and 3000 steps of hiking up and down through many archaeological sites such as Runku Racay (Pile of ruins) this a circular complex is located on the top of a mountain and between the borders of the Andean climate and the cloud forest, the views of the mountains, canyons and surrounding areas are spectacular. To reach these ruins the trail climbs steeply up the opposite side of the valley towards the second pass…The investigation says this was a place to storage food and contains sleeping areas for the Inca army.

After the guide tour of Runku Racay we follow the trail leads us to the second larger Inca ruins as known Sayaqmarca (Dominant Town or Inaccessible Town).On the way to the ruins the hikers passing through two small beautiful lagoons next of the trail…After Sayaqmarca the trail winds through jungle with orchids and bromeliads, through a tunnel, and along ridge above Urubamba River to Puyupatamarca (Town in the clouds). With stunning views of Salkantay, Veronica, and Pumasillo. Puyupatamarca, spreads out on either side of the trail with many agricultural terraces, a long series of baths (one and then a run of five going down the slope), and at the top of the site a large bedrock platform. Some archaeologists interpret the site as primarily a place to worship the mountains, but also see important water source association with the springs feeding the baths. Puyupatamarca offer spectacular place to have lunch seeing the surrounded mountains…From Puyupatamarca descends via steep staircase to Wiñay Huayna (Forever Young) is an Inca complex neighbor to Machu Picchu, on an elevated perch overlooking the Urubamba River. The site consists of upper and lower house complexes connected by a staircase and fountain structures, beside the houses lies and area of agricultural terraces. This place was discovered in 1941 by Paul Fejos. It is a short distance of walking from your campsite, if for any reason your feel tired, try to do all the efforts to visit and do not miss this part of impressive sites along the Inca Trail. (Temperature 12ºC)

After your delicious breakfast, every trekker will be ready to leave the first campsite and start the hike following the ancient path along the left bank of the Lluyuchayoc River and then, you will ascent towards the highest pass. The uphill takes around 4 to 5 hours depending on your physical conditions a seeing spectacular views of Lluyucha pampa (3680m) Continuing going up and following the amazing landscape you will get to the first and highest pass of the Inca Trail to Abra Warmy Huañusca or Dead Woman`s Pass in English (4,200m/13779ft) which is the final part of the uphill train will be the hardest because the altitude start to make to the hiker don`t got good acclimatization before to this trek. At the Abra Huarmy Wañusca normally many people reach this altitude and this is the best award for celebrate.

Afterwards, you will begin the descent to our lunch stop which is at Pacaymayu our campsite itself. Along this hike, you will be able to observe a lot of hummingbirds and other kind of birds, orchids, native plants and trees such as the Polylepis or Queuña trees which grow in the cloud forest located at 3,650m/11972ft. Some hikers bring some special drink to share with the others taking resting, making pictures and if weather permit seeing spectacular scenes of uphill trail where some people still are making the effort to reach top. After plenty time on the top we start a nice downhill path to the second campsite at Pacaymayu valley (3600 meters above sea level). This valley offer nice views of the mountain range (temperature 4ºC)

After your buffet breakfast at your hotel, our tour guide will pass to pick you between 7 to 7:10am and then we will journey until Piskacucho (Km82) which is the beginning of the Inca Trail. Upon your arrival to Km82, you will have free time to organize and pack your last stuff and check everything before to start the hiking, you can also use the restrooms, applying sunscreen, insect repellent) at check point, everyone will have to show the original passports and ISIC Cards (If applicable) The Inca trail starts (2720m/8923ft) the trail take us to the first Inca ruins as Huillca Raccay and the incredible Incan site of Llactapata or Patallacta ( Upper town in Quechua ancient language ) offers spectacular view of Urubamba valley and the Cusi chacca River. The trekking includes break stop for pictures and relaxing according how you feeling. The Urubamba mountain range that devides the jungle, the Andes and the beautiful snow-capped peak of Wakay Willca (5860/19225ft) and surrounded by pure nature and amazing views and of course guided visit of the ruins . 3 hours more of uphill and following the ancient path by the left bank of the river. Our first campsite it will be at Wayllabamba (3000m/9842ft) temperature at night will depend of season (temperature 5ºC)

After your delicious buffet breakfast, you will be pick up from your Hotel at 9:00am by your English speaking guide to explore a vital Inca road once snaked its way up the Canyon that enters the Urubamba valley at Pisac. The citadel, at the entrance to this gorge, now in ruins, controlled a route which connected the Inca Empire with Paucartambo, on the border of the eastern jungles. Set high above a valley floor patch – worked by patterned fields and rimmed by vast terracing , the stonework and panoramas at Pisaq’s Inca citadel are magnificent. Terraces, water ducts and steeps have been cut out of solid rock, and in the upper sector of the ruins, the main sun Temple is equal of anything at Machu Picchu. Above the temple lie still more ruins, mostly unexcavated, and among the higher crevices and rocky overhangs several ancient burial sites are hidden. Afterwards, you will return walking around the mountain or you can just catch our private transport to explore the modern Pisac is a picturesque Andean village, typical except for the huge, spreading pisonay tree that dominates the central square. The village is best known for its Sunday market although now is open every day, which draws hundreds of tourists each week. In spite of its popularity the market retains much of its local charm, at least in the part where villagers from miles around gather to barter and sell their products. In the tourist section of the market you can buy wide variety of Handcrafts – mostly the same things you can see in Cusco. Pisac is a good place to buy the local ceramics including a huge and varied collection of hand-painted multi-coloured beads.

Enjoy a tasty buffet lunch in one of the tasty restaurant in Urubamba (variety of dishes and vegetarian optional) after the lunch, we will continue with the tour to Ollantaytambo was an important administrative center with probable military functions due to the walls and towers. There are also traces of ancient roads and aqueducts. The town of Ollantaytambo is called a Living-Inca-Town, since the inhabitants maintain very old practices and customs.

Upon your arrival to Cusco (Flight details: to be confirmed) our guide and representative will be waiting for you, holding an small board written your names and then, you will be transferred to our office to get further information about the trip and pay the remainder balance while you will be informed, our staff will served you COCA tea to avoid the altitude sickness. At the appropriate time, you start with this lovely  Sacred Valley (great option to acclimatize) the ancient capital of the Inca Empire, where you’ll board our private coach for a drive to the Sacred Valley.

Here you can see four members of the camelids family -llama, alpacas, vicunas and guanacos. Alpaca have thick wool and is the most commonly used while the vicunas are small and delicate with fur considered the finest.
