This interesting horse ride consists of three important tourist attractions: the Salineras salt mines, Maras and Moray, which we discover by using paths that connect us to the history of these lands from times long before the Incas..Leaving our ranch located in the rural community of Pichingoto, we will get to the salt mines known as Salineras, where you can see how the salt is collected by hand, and after the visit we will continue riding to the colonial village of Maras, where one of the first churches in Latin America was constructed, which goes by the name of San Francisco de Asís. Here we will have our fruit snack and a drink.

We will go for a walk through the streets of the village of Maras where you can see the coats of arms from different Spanish colonial families carved into the stone doorways, and afterwards we will ride towards Moray, an important agricultural experimentation and development centre of which we can appreciate its grand architecture and some of the native products that are still being produced there. After the visit we will have our box lunch or picnic…During the visit we will enjoy the impressive views all around, where you can see several Andean snow-capped mountains like nowhere else in Cusco.

Route Horses: Raised and taken care of for years, these horses are well-trained in the routes that we offer. For your comfort and security, our horses have been especially selected because of their easy-going temperament. Due to the geographical difficulties of the area; we have bred a mixture of fine show horses and Creole horses, thus attaining strong, resistant but tame horses. They are strong enough for horseback riding and the type of paths we use, but with the gentleness of movement that characterizes the Peruvian walking horse…Additionally, our saddles are a hybrid between the Paso horse saddle and the western saddle. These saddles promote both comforts for the passenger, as well as for the horse. They have been made by hand in different sizes that adjust appropriately for each horse. A happy horse is a safe horse!

Performance Horses: For our dance show we use purebred Peruvian Paso show horses that have been trained in the northern marinera dance. Their elegance and particular style of walking are a true delight for the senses..We take care of and pamper our horses to keep them healthy and content, to offer you in turn the best horse riding experience possible.

Itinerary of our adventure tour:

Our private transport will pick you up from your accommodation in Cusco or the Sacred Valley to take you to our starting point in the Pichingoto Community, located close to the Vilcanota River in the district of Maras – Urubamba. Here you will be given horse riding instructions and have the opportunity to get to know your horse…We will then start the tour going up for approximately 45 minutes to get to the Salineras salt mines of Maras, where you can appreciate around 5000 salt pools. We will visit this and walk around the pools where so you can see how the salt is collected by hand, and after the visit we will continue riding for approximately another hour and 15 minutes, for 6 kilometers until taking us to the colonial village of Maras.
