We take small groups, Why?

The principal reason to take small groups in the inca trail to machu picchu, is to provide personalized service, in a small group is easy to keep walking together and enjoy the nature of the inca trail, there is a possibility to make friend and share experiences, interacting more closely with each other. Whereas, in larger groups from (10 – 16) people it trend to split into factions. Moreover, in larger groups tends to be a sizeable difference often over onehour in a section of the trail between the fastest and slowest member, what makes more difficult for the guides, cooks and porters to make their effective labors. In small groups, people are more likely to arrive at roughly the same time to hear the guides explanations. Also our porters are given the same food as the tourists. In larger groups agencies often provide inferior food for the porters. Small groups require less space in campsites and this enables the guide to select better locations. In small groups the guide, cook and porters have a more intimate relationship with the tourists and are better able to meet individual needs and attend to environmental issues such as waste disposal, contamination, etc. as the group will be together more of the time. Because of these reason in our standard service we take small groups, only in a group of friends and delegations we manage larger group. So choose small group.

Day 1 – Hike to Huchuy Qosqo on the Mountains of the Sacred Valley

This is a full day moderate hike for a wonderful adventure. At 5:00 a.m., leave Cusco for Chinchero or Tambomachay, where you can see the beautiful sunlight on Mount Veronica and the Vilcabamba range. Begin the hike either near Chinchero or Ccorao. Where you will slowly ascend to a high Puna with herds of Alpacas and Llamas. After the crossing the Apacheta pass (4,200m), start down overlooking the snowcapped mountains of the Sacred Valley and descending to the ruins of Huchuy Qosqo. These ruins are three story high Inca structures made of stone and adobe (mud-brick). The beauty of these ruins is that they are built on the mountain top, with clear blue skies above and many streams running on either side. After relaxing in the shade of the Quechua trees (Andean Oak) while feasting on the prepared lunch, continue on the hike. You will trek across the open terrain and begin the zigzag trail down the face of the mountain, until reaching the trailhead in Lamay Village. Your vehicle will take you back to Cusco in the early evening.

In this particular area, you do not meet with other tourists; only Andean people working their fields, and their children playing outside their adobe houses. To enjoy cultural experiences as well as a pleasant hike, this is a good one-day hike. It is also a great warm-up for the Inca Trail or other treks in the area.
