This trip and hike is basically for travelers who were NOT able to get the entrance to the Inca Trail at the time, it comes combined with daily tours such as City tour in Cusco, Sacred valley and Maras moray & Salt mines. Lares trek is a two – or three-day high-altitude hike in Cusco, Peru, starting near the village Lares approximately 40 miles north of Cusco and 35 miles east of Machu Picchu. The Lares valley lies in the east of the Urubamba mountain range; traversing part of the Sacred Valley, reaching the start of the trek requires a bus or can trip of approximately 5 hours from the village of Lares. The Lares trek transverses typical Peruvian Andean Mountain.

This day of hike also is considered one of the spectacular trekking, we will visit several communities and indigenous towns such as Willoq (3400m/11156ft) Pumamarca (3200m/10499ft) and Ollantaytambo (2850m/9350ft) From Patacancha through the landscape, crossing these village we can taste the traditions and habits passed on by our ancestors through the times of the Tahuantinsuyo Empire, the Inca – culture and traditions. Then we continue walking and arrive to Ollantaytambo that peaks from its archaeological sites a wide story of Andean history. Between 4 to 5pm, you will aboard the train straight to Aguas Calientes where you will spend the night there , you will have fantastic journey through the sacred valley of the Incas and the remote canyon of Vilcanota to Aguas Calientes village. The train ride consist is an spectacular views along the way in this wonderful land of the Incas, amazing landscapes of mountains and valleys, Inca farming terraces, in both sides of the valley, snowcapped mountains, and sub-tropical jungle near the Ceja de Selva. From Pachar the sacred Vilcanota River. Aguas Calientes town is set in 2,040 mts and is the closest access point to Machu Picchu. After 1H/45 Minutes of journey along the cloud forest and once you arrive there, you will be picked up by our English speaking guide or our representative and then, you will be immediately transferred to Hotel for check in for the night there.
This day of hike is probably the most beautiful one with its wonderful landscape, surrounding snowcapped mountains. After your buffet breakfast with scenic view of the Andes, we will start with this largest and hardest day of this entire Lama path and after 6 hours hike up to the Abra of Ipsay (4400m/14436ft) This climbing is pretty hard with indescribable panoramic view of snow- capped peaks of Pitusiray, Sawasiray, Chicon and surrounding by stunning landscape. On the way to our second campsite, we will have a break for our delicious buffet lunch. While the hiking, we will pass many Andean communities, they have a large knowledge of natural agriculture and ancient ways of working textile so that their colorful cloths, unique from this region. Inspired by their Andean gods. We will continue our journey downwards until our campsite next to the small village of Patacancha (3650m/11975ft) Second campsite. Set up the tents and free time to explore around on your own, visit the local families or try to cultivate some products on the ground.
We will pass to pick you up from your hotel at 7: 00am, we will continue with our wonderful trip to the province of Calca (2940m/9646ft) where you can make the last shopping in this Andean local market and along the way, we will observe and visit many Inca cultivated terraces, small villages and then the pass the highest point of this trek known Huaca Wasi (4440m/14436ft) where we start to descend to Lares valley (3200m/10499ft) where we have time to enjoy the thermal baths (28 and 36 degrees Cº/82 and 97 degrees F) and while you are swimming in the pools , our cook will be preparing the delicious buffet lunch. We also meet our porters to carry all the equipment and food during this hike till our first campsite. After enjoyed the delicious lunch, we will continued with our first day of hike towards Huaca Wasi (3600m/11811ft) where our first campsite is located. The approx. time of walking is around 4 hours of gradual uphill , at the campsite we will have a good opportunity to meet the local people ( Adults and kids ) to show us their artisan weaving exhibition and lessons about its techniques, we can also play soccer and volleyball with the young kids.
After your delicious buffet breakfast, pick up to start with this lovely Sacred Valley (great option to acclimatize) the ancient capital of the Inca Empire, where you’ll board our private coach for a drive to the Sacred Valley. This mountainous region of Peru offers mystical awe-inspiring sights to discover…The tour includes the visits the small zoo of Cochahuasi where you can observe the flight of the CONDOR`S, Andean pumas, fox, deer’s, parrots, macaws and variety of animals and birds and then you will visit Awana Kancha or (Alpaca farm) which is a weaving center with the goal to keep alive the traditional textile arts. Here you can see four members of the camelids family – llama, alpacas, vicunas and guanacos. Alpaca have thick wool and is the most commonly used while the vicunas are small and delicate with fur considered the finest. You can meet these fours camelids, learn about the harvesting of the different wools and the natural dying techniques and have change to see native weavers from different areas showing their weaving style and dress afterwards, we continue with visit to the Andean native markets and ruins of Pisac .This mountainous region of Peru offers mystical awe-inspiring sights to discover… along with farms and villages that welcome you with a taste of daily life.
Enjoy a tasty BUFFET lunch for at the restaurant (variety of dishes and vegetarian optional) after the lunch, we will continue with the tour to the Inca site of Moray. This is a fascinating, unique ruin; a fabulous amphitheater of terracing that was used as an agricultural experimental site by the Incas by taking advantage of the microclimates produced by the varying altitude to breed new varieties of their crops. We shall also visit the Village of Maras, and The salt pans which have made it famous. The salt pans are an unforgettable site-people from Maras have diverted a salt-laden spring coming out of the hillside, evaporating the water to collect salt, as their ancestors have done for centuries. We will walk among the salt pans; witnessing a scene largely unchanged from Inca times, the tour continues to Ollantaytambo was an important administrative center with probable military functions due to the walls and towers. There are also traces of ancient roads and aqueducts. The town of Ollantaytambo is called a Living-Inca-Town, since the inhabitants maintain very old practices and customs. Afterwards, you will return to Pisac and then dropped off in one of this below hotel.
Upon your arrival to the airport of Cusco (Your flight details: to be confirmed in advance) our tour guide and representative will be waiting for you with an small board written your names and then you will be transferred to our office to get further information about your trip and get some COCA tea which will help you to avoid the altitude sickness.. San Pedro Market (One`s of the Biggest market of Cusco) On the walk to it you’ll generally notice more and more street vendors and ladies in traditional dress sitting on the side of the streets selling nuts, popcorn and other small bags of dried foods. You’ll spot more and more local shops (tiendas) selling the most random of things all in the one tienda. If you’re looking for an alpaca jumper, a freshly made juice, a bag of nectarines, some plantains to fry, buttifaras (ham sandwiches served on French bread) or some cheesy gifts for your parents or friends back home you’re definitely on your way to the right place!.

This day, is one of the most important and interesting days during your whole trip, you will be picked up from your Hotel very early (BEFORE the BIRDS SING) our guide will meet you at your hotel between 4:30 to 5:00am to aboard the first touristic and shared bus to drop off you at the main door where you have to show your original PASSPORTS and ISIC Cards ( if applicable ) at the check point , and then try to be the first visitors inside of the wonder of the world Machu Picchu and the archaeological sites you will have complete guided tour during 2 to 3 hours of this spectacular mystical place.
The GUIDED tour basically includes walk through the different sections such as: The Urban sector, the agriculture sector, and the religions zone was used by the Inca Culture. After the guided tour in Machu Picchu, you will have free time to explore by yourself, walk at your own space, a lot of selfies and to meet other tourists into the sanctuary. According with the time and to your physical conditions, you can coordinate with the tour guide to climb to HUAYNA PICCHU or Machu Picchu Mountain from where you can have the best panoramic view for photos of all Machu Picchu and of deep green canyon surrounding the sacred Inca Citadel. Do not forget that this entrance must be booked in advance and pay US$ 15 extra. Afternoon and depending on your train schedule back to Cusco; you will have to take the bus down to Aguas Calientes to catch the train back to Cusco. After the guided tour, our guide will give you all the instructions for your bus down and train back to Cusco. Upon your arrival to Poroy station, you will be meeting again by our staff and then transfer back to your Hotel. (Dinner on your own)
