Mountain Biking is a relatively new sport in Peru, but new routes are rapidly being opened up, many of which offer excellent opportunities to ride.

At 9am we pick you up from the hotel and travel by own private vehicle to Chincheros, which takes 40 minutes. Here we begin our cross country biking tour on the nice Andean landscape. We visit Lake Huaypo, Maras-Moray, Salt mining and finally enjoy doing downhill biking to Urubamba in the Sacred Valley. Maras is an Inca settlement, and is a place named Salineras, are extensive terracing salt areas, controlled, and used since before Inca days. This trip is for beginners, and experience bikers, you can choose to ride in asphalt road, dirt road and single trucks. Will be a nice experience mixing the sport and knowledge of the Inca culture. After 5 hours biking 35km stopping at different viewpoints. The lunch is at Urubamba and then back to Cusco.

Rain season: December to March. Some days are with blue sky permitting to cycle this zone…After rain season (April to June) the mountains are completely covered with snow and the slops are cover with new vegetation making nicer for pictures.

Day 1 – Mountain bike tour with visits to archaeological sites

Pick up from your hotel in private vehicle for your 1 hour and 20 minute ride to the village of Chinchero where you and your guide will start your ride. Passing the lagoon of Huaypo, you’ll arrive at the Archaeological Park of Moray, where you stay for about 20 minutes to enjoy the beauty of nature and the unusual Inca terraces. This part of the tour is very attractive because of its rolling hills. Continuing our trip, you arrive at the village of Maras where a tasty picnic will be waiting. After another hour downhill rides, you will feel the peace of the Andean countryside, and enjoy your freedom. You continue your ride to the terraces of salt pans below Maras (with an optional tour) and then again a downhill (approximately 40 minutes), arriving in the Sacred Valley (Pichingoto, Tarabamba), where we end our magnificent bike tour at approximately 4:30pm. Your vehicle will be there to take you back to your hotel in Cusco or the Sacred Valley.
