White Water Rafting on the Urubamba River :Chuquicahuana & Zip line – 1 Day

The rafting adventure on the Urubamba River begins with hotel pick-up at 8:00 a.m. from your accommodation in Cusco. From there, we travel south through the Southern Valley toward the town of Cusipata, following the Cusco–Sicuani highway. The drive takes approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes, offering scenic views of the Andean countryside.

Upon arrival at the river lodge in Cusipata, our professional rafting guides will welcome you and introduce the facilities, which include changing rooms, restrooms, lockers, a rustic eucalyptus sauna, and a dining area, all located along the banks of the Urubamba River.

You will then be provided with all the necessary personal rafting equipment, including a wetsuit, splash jacket, life jacket, neoprene boots, and helmet. The guides will assist with proper fitting and provide a comprehensive safety briefing, ensuring everyone is comfortable and prepared before entering the river.

A short transfer upriver takes us to the starting point of the rafting section. Here, guides explain paddling techniques, river commands, and safety procedures before the adventure begins.

The rafting descent lasts approximately 2 hours in self-bailing inflatable rafts. The journey starts with calmer stretches and gradually builds into thrilling rapids, delivering an exciting adrenaline rush. The Chuquicahuana section features Class III and III+ rapids, accompanied by a safety kayaker for additional protection. Throughout the route, guides share insights about the river dynamics and surrounding landscape.

At the end of the rafting section, we return to the river lodge, where hot showers and the eucalyptus sauna are available to relax after the adventure.

A freshly prepared lunch is served in the dining area, featuring local and organic ingredients. Vegetarian options are available, and special dietary requests can be accommodated in advance.

Following lunch, you will enjoy an exciting zipline experience over the river, consisting of two cables of approximately 100 meters each. All equipment and instructions are provided by certified guides.

After completing all activities, we prepare for the return journey to Cusco. The drive back through the Southern Valley arrives in Cusco around 5:00 p.m., concluding a full day of adventure and fun in the Andes.
