Tipon: Tipon is said to be a royal garden commissioned by Wiracocha. It is one of the most elaborate examples of agricultural terracing created by the Incas. These tall terraces which run up the narrow valley are irrigated by an aqueduct from Pachatusan, the mountain above the site. In addition to the terracing there are also some other structures at Tipon, including baths, a temple complex, canals and aqueducts. Tipon is definitely one of the lesser visited sites in the Cusco area but it is equally as impressive as those in the Sacred Valley. The Tipon Archeological Complex is located 24 km southeast of Cusco.
Pikillacta: Pikillacta is the only pre-Inca site in the Cusco area. This adobe complex was built around 700 to 900 years AD by the Huari Culture, in the area; there is a small Inca site just a short walk from Pikillacta, known as Rumicolca, a travel checkpoint for the Incas.
Andahuaylillas: Here you will visit the Sistine Chapel of Peru, a church that is home to golden altars, paintings and many colored ceilings. The chapel is simple and unassuming on the outside, but on the inside you’ll find masterpiece after masterpiece. Also some paintings from famous Escuela Cuzqueña can be appreciated…Afternoon return to Cusco but on the way back , we will stop at Saylla where wewill find some typical restaurants to enjoy pork chicharrones, or roasted ginea pig (optional) upon your arrival, transfer back to your Hotel.
Qoricancha – Temple of the Sun: Once the most important Inca temple, Qoricancha was dedicated to the Sun God, Inti. Admire its perfect stonework, sacred chambers, and the striking contrast with the colonial church built above it.
Cusco Cathedral – Plaza de Armas: A masterpiece of colonial art, the Cathedral showcases exquisite Cusco School paintings, ornate altars, and valuable religious artifacts. It is one of the city’s most important historical monuments.
Sacsayhuamán: This impressive Inca fortress features massive stone walls, some weighing over 120 tons. Located above Cusco, it offers spectacular panoramic views of the entire city.
Qenqo: A ceremonial site known for its labyrinthine passages, carved stone altars, and astronomical features used for Inca rituals and offerings.
Puka Pukara: A military complex built with reddish stones, serving as a strategic fortress and checkpoint that protected access routes to the city of Cusco.

Tipón: Your first stop is Tipón, one of the finest examples of Inca hydraulic engineering. Admire its perfectly designed agricultural terraces and sophisticated irrigation system, with canals and fountains that still function to this day. This site is believed to have been a royal estate dedicated to the worship of water.
Pikillacta & Rumicolca: Continue to Pikillacta, the only large pre-Inca archaeological complex in the Cusco region. Built by the Huari Culture between 700–900 AD, this vast adobe citadel features hundreds of structures, narrow streets, and long corridors. Just a short walk away, visit Rumicolca, an ancient Inca checkpoint that once served as a strategic gateway controlling access to the valley.
Andahuaylillas – The Sistine Chapel of Peru: Next, explore the charming town of Andahuaylillas and visit its famous church, known as the “Sistine Chapel of Peru.” Its modest exterior contrasts with a stunning interior decorated with golden altars, colorful murals, and masterpieces from the Cusco School of Art. It is considered one of the most beautiful colonial temples in the region.
In the afternoon, return to Cusco to begin the City Tour, where you will visit the most important Inca and colonial landmarks of the city.
Qoricancha – Temple of the Sun: Once the most sacred temple of the Inca Empire, Qoricancha showcases exquisite stonework and the perfect blend of Inca and colonial architecture, with the Santo Domingo Church built right above its ancient foundations.
Cusco Cathedral: Discover one of the greatest examples of colonial art in the Andes. The Cusco Cathedral houses carved wooden altars, silverwork, and an impressive collection of paintings from the Cusqueña School.
Sacsayhuamán: Visit the magnificent Inca fortress of Sacsayhuamán, admired for its gigantic stone walls some weighing over 120 tons crafted with extraordinary precision. The site also offers breathtaking panoramic views of Cusco.
Qenqo: Explore Qenqo, a ceremonial center with carved stone altars, tunnels, and ritual chambers believed to have been used for important religious ceremonies.
Puka Pukara: Discover Puka Pukara, the “Red Fortress,” a military outpost and control point strategically overlooking the entrance to Cusco and the Sacred Valley.
Tambomachay: End your archaeological journey at Tambomachay, known as the “Temple of Water.” This site features ritual fountains and water channels that highlight the Incas’ deep connection with water and their mastery of hydraulic engineering.
At the end of the tour, you will be dropped off at your hotel in Cusco.
