What to bring /Carry


  • Daypack & Original passport.
  • Medical insurance card.
  • One backpack, sturdy duffel bag, or easily managed suitcase.
  • Long sleeve shirt or blouse and short sleeve shirts – a long sleeve cotton shirt is great for the jungle.
  • Waterproof pants & Cotton socks.
  • Sturdy shoes or hiking boots comfortable for walking.
  • Waterproof jacket or rain poncho especially for rain season between Januarys to March.
  • Bathing suit & Sandals.
  • Sun/ rain hat.
  • Camera with extra battery.
  • Sunblock of at least 15 SPF – the tropical sun is strong.
  • Insect repellant with DEET.
  • Anti-itch cream for insects bites.
  • Flashlight or headlamp with extra batteries.
  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, toiletries, etc.
  • Anti-bacterial soap, toilettes, or gel.
  • Plastic bags (Ziplocs work great! to cover your electronics while sightseeing & larger trash bag).
  • Camelback or Water Bottle.
  • Small padlock to lock your bag shut.
  • Personal medications.

What to bring /Carry


  • Original passport and a photocopy (leave the original locked in your hotel room when you walk in the city).
  • Medical insurance card.
  • Back pack or hand carry tote for day tours.
  • Extra luggage can be left in a locked storage room at your hotel for no charge.
  • Layers of clothing to be prepared for hot days and cold nights
  • Lightweight pants.
  • Sandals & Tennis shoes (To walk into the city).
  • Waterproof jacket or rain poncho (especially for rain season between Januarys to March)
  • Bathing suits (there are several hot springs).
  • Small towel and washcloth.
  • Sunscreen, Hat & Sunglasses.
  • Lip Stick (your lips will get dry from the altitude/sun).

  • Make copies of passport, visas, driver’s license, airline tickets/schedule, travel itinerary, credit cards (front and back), traveler’s checks’ numbers, frequent flyer numbers, travel insurance, and emergency contact information. Leave a copy with someone at home and put a copy in a travel companion’s luggage and email them to yourself (or Google Docs).
